Amongst the really good news about the Bonfire of the Quangos, is even better news as two of Gordon Brown’s Stasi like departments the Renewables Advisory Board and the Renewable Fuels Agency have been abolished.
Caroline Lucas, Britain’s only eco terrorist mentalist MP is deeply upset by this, which means it is a good thing for everyone who lives in the real world.
The death of the Renewables Advisory Board was accompanied by a leaked letter saying its abolition was because “Those bodies that are considered to no longer deliver functions that are a priority … will be wound up“
This letter has even been seen by the Guardian. OMG!
Campaigners reacted with horror at the suggestion that renewable energy was no longer a government priority, but the Department of Energy and Climate Change said its advisory function had already been taken up by Ored.
Matthew Spencer, an RAB board member for the last five years and director of the Green Alliance, said: “Policy will be poorer if they don’t get external advice.”

The RFA is responsible for monitoring the renewable transport fuel obligation, under which 3.5% of petrol must be biofuel. That function will be taken over by the DfT. It is unclear what will happen to its work of setting crucial sustainability criteria. Rachel Cary of the Green Alliance said the axing of the RFA could mean “the already floundering renewable fuel industry in the UK will struggle”.
Good news for the starving people of the world, you can grow food to feed yourselves rather than starving so the west can run their cars on fuels approved by the Church of Climatology.
Elsewhere, Cycling England, which received £140m over three years, was abolished, while the Committee on Climate Change, which advises the government on its carbon budgets, and the Technology Strategy Board, which supports new technology, were retained.
The myth of the Green eco friendly cyclist, crawling along a country B road with a queue of frustrated drivers behind them. The cars instead of cruising at an energy efficient speed in a high gear, are all in low gear waiting for a gap in the oncoming traffic, which is accompanied by a sudden burst of acceleration to pass the obstruction. By the eco mentalists own yardstick this is additional pollution, but like the Green Lies about electric cars and pollution this is ignored as cycling is involved.
